Spain has two easily confused procedures: homologación, which equates a foreign qualification to a Spanish one giving access to a regulated profession, and equivalencia, which recognises the academic level without conferring the right to practise.
Choosing the wrong one means restarting a procedure that is already slow.
Frequently asked questions
- Which do I need in order to practise?
- If the profession is regulated — healthcare, law, engineering, teaching — homologación is normally required, not equivalencia.
